Southlake has passionate parents and community leaders who have fought for transparency and an academic curriculum free of any political agenda. Eric was proud to stand with those parents and declare victory for foundational academics that allow students to learn in a safe environment, but he is now looking forward to tackling other important matters of business: balancing the budget, taking care of teachers and increasing engagement and trust between teachers, parents and the Board. Eric’s vision for CISD will serve to further the tradition of excellence for which we’re well known.
Eric has been dedicated to serving CISD long before he was on the Board of Trustees. He was on the Carroll Education Foundation (CEF) Board until joining the school board and continues to serve on the CEF Advisory Committee. He has served on various other CISD school board committees including four years on the District Advisory Committee, four years on the School Health Advisory Council, two years on the Budget & Finance Committee, and he is currently on the CISD Audit Committee. Eric is a graduate of the CISD CLASS program and a graduate of the City of Southlake’s Citizens Academy.
Eric is also actively involved in the community outside of CISD. He has volunteered with and supported Young Life Ministries for over 35 years, and he led the efforts to bring the Young Life program to Southlake in 2016. He has served on the Crime Control & Prevention Board (CCPD) for the City of Southlake, which is responsible for the CISD School Resource Officers (SRO) Program. He has served as President of his local neighborhood homeowners association for the past five years. Finally, Eric actively volunteers for 121 Community Church, where he is a part of the outreach team and also helps lead an adult small group in his home every week.
Eric graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology and a minor in Real Estate. He holds two professional certifications: a Senior Certified Professional by the Society of Human Resource Managers, and a Senior Professional in Human Resources by the HR Certification Institute. Eric is currently taking courses at the University of Texas at Arlington to obtain a master’s degree in human resources management.
Eric has lived in Southlake with his wife, Jill, and their three children since 2014. The Lannen’s youngest daughter, Cate, is a senior, and the two older boys, Jake and Nate, graduated from Carroll in 2016 & 2020.
